Safee Sali, a former player Malaysia national team, seems there should be no hope for Malaysia U22 national team for Men’s Football SEA Games 2023 at Cambodia. Despite recently winning Merlion Cup 2023 in Singapore in late March.
Malaysia U22 national team under the management of E.Elavarasan just won Merlion Cup 2023 in Singapore by winning Cambodia U22 national team by a score of 4-2 in the semi-final and winning Hong Kong U22 national team by a score of 2-1 in the final.
“We can’t have too high hopes for the national youth squad at the SEA Games even though they managed to win the Merlion Cup,” Safee said with Astro Awani.
“We have to give them space to create success and if they win gold in Cambodia it’s a bonus. We should not praise them (players) too much so that they don’t get carried away and if they don’t succeed it will destroy the development of the players in the future,”
“I agree with the development of young players, we have successful and quality defenders and they are on the right track, however, the facilities provided for them should also go hand in hand,”
Meanwhile, Safee Sali is a former player Malaysia U23 national team in squad of Men’s Football SEA Games 2007 at Nakhonratchasima, Thailand.
