Malaysia national team inform that the Tier 1 International Match 2023 against Yemen on 20 June 2023 had to be canceled. and replaced the schedule by Papua New Guinea national team.
It is after FAM received an official notification letter from the Yemen Football Association (YFA) at 5.00 pm on yesterday (Tuesday, 30 May 2023) which stated the intention to cancel the match due to the absence of its main player due to joining U23 squad for the WAFF U23 Championship 2023. in Iraq.
This last-minute cancellation from the YFA forces FAM to immediately find a suitable replacement team in a relatively short time with limited options since most other teams already have their respective opponents on the FIFA calendar this time.
After contacting several teams, FAM has finally managed to get approval from Papua New Guinea as a replacement team to meet Malaysia at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on 20 June 2023.
Earlier, Malaysia national team will face the 134th-ranked team in the world, Solomon Islands for another Tier 1 International Match 2023 at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Wednesday, 14 June 2023.
