A clash between neighboring rivals takes place at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium as Wales and England meet in their final FIFA World Cup 2022™ Group B encounter. Wales, on one point after conceding two late goals to lose 2-0 to IR Iran last time out, can only finish above England, on four points, if they beat them by four goals or more. Should they fail to do so, England will qualify for the round of 16.
England star boy Phil Foden was named in the starting eleven as England made four changes from the side that drew with USA on Friday. For the first 30 minutes, England was absolutely controlling the game while Wales has played defense properly.
The game’s first chance came soon after as Phil Foden found himself in space inside the area. Meanwhile, for Wales, right on half time mark, Joe Allen hit a half volley from the edge of the site that went over the frame. Gareth Bale seemingly injured in the game, as the second half starts.
The first goal of England didn’t come easily. Marcus Rashford scored the first goal with a superb free kick. England 1, Wales 0. Another goal came 30 seconds later, where Phil Foden grabbed the chance and tapped in after a counter-press down the right. England 2, Wales 0 in a rapid fires style. Wales left utterly disappointed with themselves.
Marcus Rashford did it again by scoring England’s third goal with a stunning strike cutting from the right-hand side. Gareth Southgate decided to substitute the 2-goals scorer Marcus Rashford with Jude Bellingham. No hat trick for Marcus Rashford today.
At around 85 minutes. England was confirmed to advance into Round 16, as the USA defeated Iran 1-0. Four minutes of extra time was added to the game. England’s John Stones almost scored from a corner after the ball was delivered into the box and headed by Harry Maguire.
England’s World Cup dream will go on to play Senegal in Round 16, as Wales headed out to the FIFA World Cup 2022.
