Negeri Sembilan FC has expressed its disappointment following the Malaysian Football League’s (MFL) decision to postpone its scheduled Unifi Liga Super 2026/27 opening fixture against Kuala Lumpur City FC.
In an official statement, Negeri Sembilan FC said the postponement came at the last minute and left the club deeply frustrated, particularly after extensive preparations had already been completed for the match.
As the home team, NSFC revealed that preparations covering logistics, stadium facilities, medical personnel and security arrangements had already been fully put in place. The club said the late decision resulted in significant organisational costs and disruption.
The postponement has also affected thousands of supporters who had planned to attend the match.
According to the club, based on its records and enquiries, around 5,000 fans had already purchased tickets and made arrangements to travel to the stadium before the match was called off.
NSFC said it would provide further information through its official channels regarding ticket refunds and the status of tickets already purchased.
The strongest message from Negeri Sembilan FC came as the club called on the MFL to award them a walkover victory.
The club stressed that the postponement was completely outside its control and was not caused by any action or failure on the part of Negeri Sembilan FC.
“NSFC firmly demands that the walkover victory be awarded to Negeri Sembilan FC.”
The statement underlined the club’s position that it should not be made to bear the sporting consequences of a decision that it had no involvement in.
Despite the cancellation of the match, Negeri Sembilan FC confirmed that the team would still use the facilities prepared for the fixture by conducting an open training session at the stadium.
The club invited supporters to attend the session as a gesture of appreciation for their continued support, while also acknowledging the disappointment of fans who had prepared to watch the scheduled Liga Super encounter.
NSFC also apologised to supporters who had already arranged their schedules and travelled to support the team.
The club reiterated that it remains committed to protecting the interests of both Negeri Sembilan FC and its supporters, while continuing to pursue the matter through the appropriate channels.
