Adam Adli, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia informed the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) temporarily stopped naturalization player program for the Malaysia national team.
Although this program has been stopped at the FAM level, football clubs under the Malaysian Football League (MFL) can continue the naturalization program in accordance with the steps and laws set by the government.
Adam as PH-Hang Tuah Jaya said on Dewan Rakyat meeting today in response to a question Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH-Tebrau) raised regarding the naturalization of national players.
“The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has temporarily stopped the player naturalization program at the national level.” Adam said on Dewan Rakyat
“However, football clubs under the auspices of the Malaysian Football League (MFL) can still continue this program in accordance with the steps and procedures set by the government.”
“Naturalized players create a competitive environment (and) give competition to local players to be listed in the main eleven of our national team.”
“In addition, the presence of players in this category also helps to improve the quality of Malaysian football which can be seen through the increase in international rankings now,”
