Negeri Sembilan FC delivered a commanding performance to defeat Sabah FC 3-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi.
The Jangs started with Azri Ghani between the posts, skipper Takumi Sasaki marshaling the midfield, and Joseph Esso spearheading the attack. Sabah, looking to bounce back after a heavy defeat to league leaders JDT, lined up with veteran goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi and Fergus Tierney as their main attacking threat.
The hosts looked sharp from the outset, creating several dangerous chances before breaking the deadlock in the 26th minute through Jovan Motika, who struck a superb finish to give Negeri Sembilan the lead.
Sabah attempted to respond quickly, pushing forward in search of an equalizer, but the visitors struggled to find a way past Azri Ghani’s well-organized defense.
In the 40th minute, Negeri Sembilan doubled their advantage when Alex Agyarkwa unleashed a powerful strike, sending The Jangs into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 cushion.
The second half saw Negeri Sembilan maintain their attacking rhythm despite their lead. Motika continued to trouble the Sabah defense and came close on multiple occasions, though his finishing let him down.
With ten minutes left to play, Joseph Esso sealed the win for the home side, calmly slotting home in the 80th minute to make it 3-0 and cap off a dominant display.
The result leaves Negeri Sembilan celebrating a crucial victory, keeping their momentum alive as they prepare to face Penang away on 4 October. Meanwhile, Sabah will shift focus to cup action, as they face Bunga Raya FC from the A1 League in the FA Cup Round of 16 on 30 September at the very same Paroi venue.
