Datuk Azizulhasni Awang, the Malaysian track cyclist, finished his participation in the 1/18 repechage round of the Men’s Sprint event in the Cycling Track of Olympic 2024.
In the 1/18 round at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome, Azizulhasni was defeated by Jeffrey Hoogland from the Netherlands, which forced him into the repechage round.
In the initial 1/18 races, Harrie Lavreysen of the Netherlands secured a place in the quarter-finals by beating Japan’s Yuta Obara. Australian racer Matthew Richardson also advanced after defeating Mateusz Rudyk from Poland. Great Britain’s Hamish Turnbull, Japan’s Kaiya Ota, and Jack Carlin also qualified for the quarter-finals by winning their respective races.
In the first repechage race, Obara triumphed over Leigh Hoffman (Australia) and Nicholas Paul (Trinidad and Tobago) to secure his quarter-final spot. In the second repechage race, Rudyk managed to beat both Yakovlev and Azizulhasni, joining the seven other racers in the quarter-finals.
