Speculations on which team Syahmi Safari will migrate to the Malaysia League (M League) this season after not renewing his contract with Selangor FC have finally been answered.
Through a one -minute video recording on the Johor Southern Tigers official website today, it shows the Malayan Tigers player choosing Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club as a destination to continue his professional football career.
In fact, in the video, the Kuala Selangor -born player who is now 23 years old stressed that there is only one destination to develop his football career and it is the JDT club.
“I am here now. There is only one destination in Malaysian football and JDT is the place.
“I can’t say no to the biggest club in Malaysia. This is a challenge. A challenge for me to move forward and achieve success as a footballer,” said Syahmi.
Syahmi’s presence in the Southern Tigers squad will definitely give strength to the right defender position when at this time the position is often filled by Matthew Davies and S Kunanlan and it also gives space for the team’s operator Benjamin Mora to make a choice to strengthen the position.
Prior to this, the owner of JDT, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said, one or two local players will be brought in to increase the strength of the Super League champions for eight consecutive seasons.
Now, JDT football fans are waiting for another local player and an imported player who will be paired with Bergson Da Silva for the M League campaign and the Asian Champions League (ACL).
