Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah today officiated the highly anticipated launch of Johor Motorsports Racing’s (JMR) new race cars for the 2025 season, held at the Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House in Johor Bahru.
Also in attendance were Her Highness Che’ Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor, Crown Prince of Johor Tunku Iskandar Ibni Tunku Ismail, and members of the Johor royal family including Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj, Tunku Tun Aminah Binti Sultan Ibrahim and husband Dato’ Dennis Muhammad Abdullah, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj, and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj.
Marking a historic milestone for regional motorsports, JMR unveiled their brand-new Corvette Z06 GT3.R, the first team in Southeast Asia to field the American-engineered race car. Both Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Abu Bakar will be behind the wheel of the two Corvette machines throughout the 2025 racing season.
This bold step cements JMR’s ambition to elevate Malaysian motorsports on the global stage with top-tier machinery and royal racing pedigree.
Since their racing debut in 2019, JMR has built a strong reputation, amassing three championship titles and 53 podium finishes to date.
For the 2025 season, the team is set to compete in some of the world’s most prestigious GT championships, including:
- GT World Challenge Asia
- International GT Open(Feature Event)
- Intercontinental GT Challenge(Feature Event)
These tournaments will see JMR compete in legendary endurance races such as the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium and the Suzuka 1000KM in Japan — iconic battlegrounds where only the finest in motorsports dare to race.
The presence and endorsement of the Johor Royal Family at today’s launch highlight the growing stature of JMR and the royal commitment to propelling Malaysia into the global motorsports arena.
With the roar of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R ready to echo across continents, Johor Racing Team stands poised for a defining season in 2025 — one driven by heritage, horsepower, and high ambition.
