Johor Darul Ta’zim confirmed their place in the Piala Malaysia 2025/26 final after defeating Kuala Lumpur City FC in a dramatic semi-final second leg at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
The match began with both sides showing attacking intent. Kuala Lumpur City, coached by Risto Vidakovic, pressed aggressively in an attempt to overturn the deficit from the first leg.
Despite several dangerous moments created by JDT, the visitors held firm defensively, and the first half ended 0-0, leaving the tie still alive heading into the second period.
After the break, the hosts raised the tempo and quickly took control of the match.
Within a 10-minute spell, JDT struck three decisive goals to put the contest beyond doubt. Star striker Bergson da Silva led the charge with two goals, while Syahmi Safari added another to ignite celebrations among the home supporters.
KL City managed to pull one back through defender Giancarlo Gallifuoco, giving the travelling fans a brief moment of cheer.
Late in the match, Ajdin Mujagic added the final touch. The Southern Tigers delivered another commanding performance in front of their home fans in Johor Bahru, sealing an emphatic 8-1 aggregate victory to book their sixth consecutive Malaysia Cup final appearance.
JDT will now face either Kuching City or Selangor FC in the final, as they chase their fourth Piala Malaysia title since 2022.
