Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, in a special voice message on the afternoon of 8 May 2023, called on General Sao Sokha to continue as President of the Football Federation of Cambodia(FFC).
Last night, Sao Sokha decided to resign as President of the Football Federation of Cambodia(FFC) for being responsible after the Cambodia U22 national team near eliminated in Men’s Football in SEA Games 2023. as promised by Him said after Cambodia defeated Timor-Leste in the first match.
PM Cambodia observed that after receiving the news of the resignation of His Excellency Sao Sokha, many people expressed their disappointment and regret for His Excellency Sao Sokha, who used to lead the development of Rank in Cambodian football. Cambodian football is not playing as well as it should be, Cambodian football has moved away from the point where Cambodia has never been before.
In addition, PM Cambodia has stated that there are many countries where football can not get good results, and while some countries have a population of more than 1 billion people, their football is not strong. As for Cambodia, with a population of just over 10 million, the Cambodian football sector can grow so much, which is a very good result, and in the eyes of the Cambodian people, the Cambodian football sector used to be at the bottom of the table.
