Malaysian Football League(MFL) has confirmed the match of Piala Sumbangsih 2024/25 between Johor Darul Ta’Zim and Selangor FC will still be on schedule for 10 May 2024 after MFL rejected the request to postpone Selangor FC.
However, MFL and JDT, the home team, will give the police and commander from Johor Military Force(JMF) a total of 1,500 police officers for this match.
“Malaysian Football League (MFL) would like to express its sympathy and regret over the incident that befell three Malaysian League players Akhyar Rashid (Terengganu FC), Faisal Halim (Selangor FC) and Safiq Rahim (Johor Darul Ta’zim).” MFL said in statement.
“It is clear that this separate incident shook the country, especially the local football supporters who are now united to express their support and pray that the players involved are in good condition.”
“The MFL strongly condemns any form of violence against any player and hopes that this case can be investigated in detail by the authorities for further action.”
“MFL has never compromised in ensuring the safety of players and supporters who come to the stadium to watch Malaysia League matches through the cooperation of the team and local authorities.”
“Therefore, the MFL has held a meeting with all the chief security officers of the Malaysian League clubs today to ensure that the security coordination for each Malaysian League match this season is improved.”
“In addition, security assurances to players and supporters for the Donation Match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Selangor FC at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium this Friday (10 May 2024) have been given by Johor Police Chief Commissioner M Kumar who announced that a total of 1,500 police officers will be deployed for duty, including strict control and inspection at the match compared to the usual 500 officers.”
“Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain in a statement today also stated that security preparations for officers and policemen will be improved.”
“Therefore, with the security preparations made by the Police, the MFL decided that all the Malaysian League matches that will take place this week will be played according to the schedule, including the Sumbangsih Match.”
“With security assurances from the Police, MFL had to reject Selangor FC’s request to postpone the Donation Match due to concerns about the team’s security level.”
