Malaysia national team will play friendly match with Nepal national team on 15 March before flying to Oman for FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 Group D Matchday 3.
This friendly match will play behind closed door in Malaysia as ‘Unofficial friendly’, and it was only against a team ranked 175th, the occasion was seen as the best opportunity for ‘sharpen’ before facing Oman, who are currently ranked 80th in the world.
“We have one match before going to Oman, which is against Nepal on March 15. It’s part of the team’s preparation to face Oman,” Kim Pan-gon said.
In addition, Pan-Gon has concerns regarding the condition of the players; Harimau Malaya also faces several significant challenges, including Oman’s reputation action at an opponent’s venue that is different in terms of time compared to Malaysia and the match taking place during Ramadan.
“The situation is not good, as we know the league has stopped since December and (the new season) will start in May. So it puts us in difficulty, the players have to play, every week they have to act.
“We have an important match in March (this month) namely the World Cup qualifiers, but we have no league competition. After the Asian Cup until now, there have been no matches and some clubs have not yet started pre-season.
“So what does that mean? Physically, the level of fitness in our match is lacking; the action against each other takes place at different times and takes place in Ramadan. We find it difficult to find positive things now, but this is a situation we need to face,” he said.
