Negeri Sembilan FC strike back to collect 3 points after beating Selangor FC with a score of 3-2 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
Selangor who lost to Sri Pahang FC last week did not wait long to be in front when Herlison Caion De Souza Ferreira found the net as early as the eighth minute.
Caused by the carelessness of Herold Goulon who was too relaxed in controlling the ball in his own area, giving space for Caion to seize the ball and then make an attempt to beat the goalkeeper, Ahmad Syihan Hazmi.
Selangor widened the lead in the 30th minute through Yazan Mousa Mahmud Al-Arab’s header following a free kick taken by Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi.
The goal however caused controversy when the referee of the match, Fitri Maskom initially blew the whistle but later changed the decision to recognize the goal.
Negeri Sembilan’s revival began in the 66th minute after Gustavo Almeida Dos Santos completed a free kick to beat home goalkeeper Sam Somerville.
The goal clearly boosted the morale of K. Devan’s men to add more goals and their efforts paid off in the 80th minute which saw Gustavo heading in the ball from Ahmad Khuizaimi Piee’s free kick to return to level the score.
When the real action was only two minutes left to end, substitute player who is a former Selangor player, Sean Eugene Selvaraj made a long-range attempt to give Negeri Sembilan a valuable victory.
