Kuala Lumpur City earned 3 points and still on 2nd rank after beating Terengganu FC scoring 1-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
The City Boys, who lined up with Quincy Kammeraad in goal and Safawi Rasid leading their attacking efforts, looked determined to bounce back strongly in front of their home fans. Kamal Azizi donned the captain’s armband to anchor the defense.
Terengganu, on the other hand, started with Suhaimi Husin guarding the posts and prolific forward Yann Mabella spearheading their attack, with hopes of breaking down the resilient KL City defense.
The first half was fiercely contested, with both sides creating dangerous chances but failing to find the back of the net. KL City came close through several well-worked moves, only to be denied by the sharp reflexes of Suhaimi Husin. Terengganu also threatened but saw their efforts fly wide.
The match was briefly halted in the 35th minute due to heavy rain, causing a 30-minute delay. Once play resumed, both teams pressed for an opener, but the first half ended in a goalless stalemate.
In the second half, the intensity remained high. Terengganu looked most likely to score through Yann Mabella, but the striker was unable to capitalize on his opportunities. KL City, urged on by their supporters, began to assert control as the game progressed.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 80th minute when Paulo Josue was brought down inside the box by Alif Zakaria, prompting the referee to award a penalty. The Brazilian playmaker made no mistake from the spot in the 82nd minute, coolly sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give KL City the lead.
Despite late pressure from Terengganu, KL City held firm to claim all three points at home. The win keeps The City Boys firmly in the race near the top of the Super League table.
