Selangor FC secured a hard-earned 1-0 victory against Kuching City FC in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 season at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
In front of thousands of passionate home supporters, the Red Giants showed patience and persistence before finally breaking down a resilient Kuching City side late in the match.
Selangor lined up with Kalamullah Al-Hafiz in goal, Faisal Halim wearing the captain’s armband, and Brazilian striker Chrigor Moraes leading the line.
Kuching City, meanwhile, entrusted Haziq Nadzli between the posts, with Ronald Ngah Wanja spearheading The Cats’ attack.
The hosts started brightly, launching waves of early attacks. Chrigor came close in the 25th minute with a dangerous strike that narrowly missed the target.
Kuching responded swiftly. Two minutes later, Ramadhan Saifullah nearly stunned the home crowd, but Selangor’s defense reacted in time to deny the breakthrough.
Despite dominating possession and tempo throughout the first half, Selangor were unable to convert their superiority into goals. Four minutes of added time yielded no change, and the teams went into the break deadlocked at 0-0.
The Red Giants returned with greater urgency, raising the intensity as chants echoed across the stadium. Both sides traded threatening moves early in the second half, yet neither could find the finishing touch.
Chrigor remained the focal point of Selangor’s attack, repeatedly testing Haziq Nadzli, who delivered an impressive goalkeeping display to keep his side in contention.
In search of a breakthrough, Kuching City made four substitutions late in the game, introducing fresh legs in hopes of snatching a crucial away goal.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 86th minute. Capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Kuching City, Chrigor Moraes pounced to fire home the only goal of the match — a moment that sent the Selangor faithful into celebration.
Haziq produced another outstanding save in stoppage time to deny Chrigor in a one-on-one situation, preventing further damage and keeping the scoreline respectable.
At the final whistle, Selangor emerged 1-0 winners — a vital result that strengthens their position in the Liga Super standings as the season enters a critical phase.
