Kim Pan-gon, head coach of Malaysia national team believes the team has ready for play in match against Jordan in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Group Stage, Group E tomorrow.

Malaysia has a long time preparation after qualifying for this tournament in June 2022, using several tournaments like the AFF Cup 2022 and Merdeka Cup 2023, and friendly matches to test the tactical and find the best players.

However, Malaysia never won Jordan in the record 3 matches meetings, and in the last match, Jordan won 4-0 in the friendly match in October 2021 at Amman.

“Very exciting for this tournament. Our teams are fully ready for tomorrow’s game against the Jordan tournament.” Pan-gon said in Pre-match press conference today.

“People know Malaysia is a beautiful country and nice and kind people live there. Still, we can also introduce Malaysia as strong from the dynamic and energetic football we introduce, so we are fully ready for tomorrow’s game.”

“Three weeks of preparation, including Kuala Lumpur and the Qatar training camp. There were some obstacles, but we all overcame those little players. still, I think we can put up full of our power for tomorrow’s game tactically, technically, and strategically. I think we are all ready for tomorrow.”

“Did we play 11 games, seven wins, one loss, ranking around 96, Did this record give us that confidence? I think we want to maintain this momentum to go to this tournament. I think we wanna give something happiness to the Malaysian peoples.”

“Yes, if you look at the record, Malaysia is 130th and Jordan is 87th. Some people think the difference is too big. What you can do in 10 years, you describe your team as a strong team.

“I think in this game we are at the same level as Jordan. In our previous six games we won twice, drew three and lost once.”

“So based on these results, we outline our goals. So tomorrow is a historic day. We want to beat Jordan and yes Korea is the strongest team in the group stage.”

“We already know Jordan and Bahrain have home court advantages as they play in the Middle East. But we believe we can bring them and Korea Republic a huge challenge”

“OK, but the injury does not affect our operation for tomorrow’s game. Second, about Jordan, we have match information about Jordan’s team as individuals. “

“We can describe our Jordan characteristics if they have good physical strength and I use power in the player most of the characters was they don’t like to Build a plate but rather than more direct, and they have a very strong accountability, so we acknowledge all those characteristics of Jordan.”

“We are already prepared to make it a game plan so we are full confidence. We can stop them there counter, and also we know several players. We will stop them again tomorrow,”

In addition, Matthew Davies, team captain’s of Malaysia national team from Johor Darul Ta’Zim hope to did follow the target of the coach is qualify to round of 16.

“In terms of our aspirations for the tournament, I think I’ll just read what the coach said here, which is that go to qualify to the round of 16, which means finishing second or third in the group, as you mentioned, yes it’s been a long time since we qualified with the first team in 40 or so years to qualify on me for the Asian cup for Malaysia so we’re very proud of that And we wanted to be here.” Matt said.

“I think we’re very proud of each other but at the same time we don’t wanna come here be defensive, be negative we wanna come here we are start with football enjoy and be competitive in this tournament. I think we’ve proven again, and again that we’re very capable of competing with teams ranked for above us, so we’re hoping to do that again in this tournament.”

AFC Asian Cup 2023, Group Stage, Group E between Malaysia and Jordan will play on 15 January 2024, at 1.30 am.(+1) (Malaysian time) at Al Janoub Stadium.
