Malaysian Moto3 prospect Hakim Danish will start from 16th on the grid for the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix after another encouraging qualifying performance at the legendary TT Circuit Assen, continuing his impressive adaptation to one of the most iconic venues on the MotoGP calendar.
Representing AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSi, Hakim earned direct entry into Q2 after finishing 13th in Friday’s Practice session, avoiding the additional hurdle of Q1 and underlining his growing pace throughout the weekend.
Saturday morning’s FP2 was primarily dedicated to refining race setup and gathering more information ahead of qualifying. The Malaysian youngster completed the session in 20th, posting a best lap of 1:41.313, just 0.635 seconds behind the session leader.
With preparations complete, Hakim shifted his focus to the decisive Q2 session later in the afternoon. As the pace intensified during the closing minutes, several frontrunners improved significantly on their final flying laps. Hakim also mounted one last charge but was unable to extract the extra time needed to climb higher up the order.
He eventually qualified 16th with a fastest lap of 1:41.136, finishing 1.006 seconds adrift of pole position.
The result places the Malaysian rider on the sixth row of the grid, providing him with another valuable opportunity to fight through the highly competitive Moto3 field when the lights go out on Sunday.
Although the qualifying result may not fully reflect the pace he has shown throughout the weekend, Hakim’s ability to progress directly into Q2 at Assen—during his first competitive appearance at the historic Dutch circuit—highlights the steady progress he continues to make in his rookie Moto3 campaign.
Pole position went to Máximo Quiles of the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team, who delivered a stunning lap of 1:40.130 to lead the grid for Round 10.
With valuable track knowledge now under his belt and confidence growing session by session, Hakim will be aiming to convert his sixth-row starting position into another strong points challenge in Sunday’s Dutch Grand Prix.
