The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has reaffirmed its firm stance in defending the citizenship status and eligibility of seven Malaysian abroad players amid ongoing legal scrutiny at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
In an official statement, the national football governing body stressed that it remains confident the documentation process undertaken previously was conducted in accordance with the established procedures and regulations.
FAM emphasised that its position is driven by the need to safeguard both the rights of the players involved and the integrity of the national team’s management system.
The governing body believes the procedures followed during the registration and documentation stages complied with the relevant frameworks required for players representing the Malaysia national football team.
Despite facing legal challenges at the international arbitration level, FAM confirmed it remains committed to presenting additional supporting evidence to reinforce its position.
The move is aimed at strengthening the federation’s defence and ensuring that the case is reviewed with full consideration of all available documentation.
According to the association, the effort is part of a broader commitment to protect the future of Malaysian football, particularly in matters concerning player eligibility and administrative governance.
The issue surrounding the seven Malaysian abroad players has become a significant talking point in Malaysian football circles, with fans and stakeholders closely following developments.
For now, FAM maintains its confidence in the process and continues to prepare further submissions to support its position as the case progresses through the legal channels at CAS.
