Asia Road Racing Championship 2024 delivered an electrifying spectacle in its final round at Thailand’s Chang International Circuit, with intense battles across all classes.
Riders from across Asia showcased their skill and determination as they vied for top honors in a weekend filled with high-stakes drama.
Asia Superbike 1000cc (ASB1000): Indonesian Dominance
The premier ASB1000 class saw Andy Farid Izdihar of Honda Asia-Dream Racing with Estemo seize victory in Race 1. Starting from pole position, Andy maintained a commanding lead, completing the 13 laps in 20:44.539 minutes. His win propelled him to the top of the cumulative leaderboard, 7 points ahead of Japan’s Yuki Kuni. Malaysian rider Mohammad Zaqwan Zaidi secured second place, trailing 1.617 seconds, while Yuki recovered from a tough start to claim third.
Thai fans rallied behind local hero “Chip” Nakarin Athiratphuwaphat, who finished fourth, keeping his championship hopes alive. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Hafizh Syahrin of JDT Racing Team, starting from grid 11, fought valiantly to finish in P5, showcasing his resilience and experience.
Supersport 600cc: Thai Glory with Stamp Apiwat
Thai sensation Stamp Apiwat Wongthananon from Yamaha Techni Racing Team ASEAN delivered a stunning performance, winning Race 1 in a nail-biting finish. His time of 20:02.211 minutes edged out Indonesia’s Mohammad Adenanta Putra by just 0.364 seconds. Malaysia’s Muhammad Helmi Azman took third, merely 0.418 seconds behind. Stamp’s victory strengthened his lead in the championship standings, putting him 19 points ahead of Adenanta.
Asia Production 250cc: Photo Finish for Ramadipa
The AP250 class produced one of the closest finishes of the weekend. Indonesia’s rising star Muhammad Kiandra Ramadipa of Astra Honda Racing Team claimed victory with a time of 18:53.236 minutes, narrowly defeating compatriot Arai Akaska Laksana by 0.159 seconds. Teammate Muhammad Farosi rounded out the podium in third. Thailand’s “Hypek” Kritsada Thanachot finished a commendable fifth, just 0.362 seconds behind the leader.
Underbone 150cc: Indonesian Clean Sweep
Indonesian riders dominated the Underbone 150cc category. Murobin Vittoni of Yamaha LFN HP969 Indonesia Racing Team triumphed with a time of 16:28.200 minutes, edging out teammate Aditya Fauzi by a razor-thin 0.079 seconds. Husni Zainul Fouadzi secured third, completing an all-Indonesian podium.
TVS Asia One Make Championship: Ono Triumphs
Japanese rider Hiroki Ono emerged victorious in the first race of the TVS Asia One Make Championship, clocking 14:56.727 minutes. India’s Sarthak Chavan and Thailand’s Athit Ganghae finished second and third, separated by just 0.169 seconds.
