Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) showcased his mastery at the Circuit of the Americas, securing a thrilling Tissot Sprint win despite a near-disastrous moment on the first lap.
The Spanish rider admitted that he almost lost control of his bike but recovered brilliantly to dominate the race.
“The first lap was very challenging,” Marquez told MotoGP. “Pecco [Bagnaia] attacked me in Turn 1, I fought back in Turn 3, but when I tried to push and open a gap, I had a massive slide. I couldn’t stop it! For a moment, I thought I was going to lose it, but I managed to regain control and attack again.”
Once past the scare, Marquez executed his race plan flawlessly, opening a one-second gap and managing his lead until the checkered flag. “It doesn’t matter if you win by half a second or three seconds—when I had a gap, I just controlled the bike,” he added.
With track conditions evolving and temperatures rising, Marquez is now preparing for Sunday’s Grand Prix, where he expects fierce competition. “Tomorrow, with the medium tyre, we need to understand where we stand. Pecco will be strong—I saw his speed towards the end of the Sprint.”
As Marquez eyes another victory, all eyes are on the Americas Grand Prix, where Bagnaia and the rest of the grid will look to challenge the Spanish superstar’s dominance.
