Peter Cklamovski, head coach of Malaysia national team, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s rapid adaptation, following their 2-0 triumph over Nepal in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Round 3 Group D.
Despite limited time together, the national squad showcased strong chemistry, particularly with the inclusion of newcomers Hector Hevel and Gabriel Palmero. Hevel, making his debut, was handed a starting role and responded with a stunning goal, helping Malaysia secure an important victory.
Cklamovski praised his squad’s ability to implement tactical strategies within a short preparation period and emphasized the importance of continued improvement.
“I am proud of the players because in the short camp (period) together, what we have worked on is evident through their performances.”
“We got our reward (the victory over Nepal), but we have a lot of work to do,” Cklamovski told Astro Arena journalist Zulhelmi Zainal Azam.
Malaysia’s 2-0 win was sealed by goals from Hector Hevel and La’Vere Corbin Ong, placing Harimau Malaya second in Group F, level on points with Vietnam, who lead the standings on goal difference.
Malaysia will now shift focus to their next qualifier against Vietnam on June 10.
