Jake Dixon (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) delivered a flawless performance at the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas, securing a perfect weekend: P1 in practice, pole position, and victory on race day.
In treacherous, mixed conditions, the Brit executed a masterclass to claim his second consecutive victory, finishing 4.1 seconds ahead of Tony Arbolino (BLUCRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2). Alonso Lopez (Team HDR Heidrun) completed the podium, while former championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) suffered a disastrous outing, finishing with zero points after a failed tyre gamble.
As the Moto3 race concluded, the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) was hit by light rain, throwing pre-race strategies into chaos. Some riders, including Championship leader Gonzalez, risked starting on slick tyres, while Dixon and most of the grid opted for wets. It quickly became clear who had made the right decision.
By Lap 8, Dixon was lapping struggling slick-tyre riders, including Gonzalez, Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP), and Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team), as they battled to keep their machines on track. The Brit stretched his lead to six seconds over Arbolino with five laps to go, with Lopez a further four seconds behind.
As the race neared its conclusion, Celestino Vietti (Team HDR Heidrun) crashed twice while chasing his teammate Lopez for the final podium spot, first at Turn 12 and then at Turn 13, ending his race in frustration.
With no such issues for Dixon, the #96 powered home to a dominant win and the Championship lead, while Arbolino grabbed his first podium of the season and Lopez secured his first of the year, locking out the podium for Boscoscuro.
Aron Canet (Fantic Racing LINO SONEGO) took a valuable P4, while Izan Guevara (BLUCRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) stormed from P26 on the grid to an impressive P5, showcasing his incredible racecraft.
Top rookie honors went to Ivan Ortola (QJMOTOR – FRINSA – MSI), who secured his best Moto2 finish in P6, while a riding-wounded Barry Baltus (Fantic Racing LINO SONEGO) gritted through pain to claim P7. Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team), Mario Aji (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), and Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completed the top 10, both Aji and Veijer achieving career-best Moto2 results—a historic moment for Aji, marking his greatest Grand Prix finish to date.
Home team OnlyFans American Racing saw Marcos Ramirez claim P11, while Oscar Gutierrez (QJMOTOR – FRINSA – MSI), standing in for Sergio Garcia, secured his first Moto2 top 15 finish in P12.
Zonta van den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP) bagged P13, reigning Moto3 World Champion David Alonso (CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team) walked away from Austin with P14, and Alex Escrig (KLINT Forward Factory Team) rounded out the points in P15.
With two wins in a row, Dixon now holds a 13-point lead over Canet heading into Round 4 in Qatar, while Gonzalez’s nightmare race sees him slip to third in the standings.
