Selangor FC endured their second consecutive defeat in the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 Group Stage, Group G after falling 4-2 to Lion City Sailors at Bishan Stadium, Bishan.
Brazilian striker Anderson Lopes, formerly of Yokohama F. Marinos, spearheaded the home attack and wasted no time stamping his mark. Lopes struck in the seventh minute before doubling his tally six minutes later, leaving Selangor reeling.
The game was then dramatically halted for one hour and 35 minutes due to a thunderstorm around Bishan Stadium, resuming at 8:05 p.m.
Selangor were handed a lifeline when Chrigor Moraes was fouled in the penalty area by Ivan Susak. The Brazilian forward converted calmly from the spot in the 37th minute to reduce the deficit. However, just before halftime, Lopes completed his hat-trick to restore LCS’s two-goal cushion at 3-1.
The Sailors continued their dominance after the restart, and Lopes struck again in the 54th minute for his fourth of the night, effectively sealing the contest.
Interim head coach Christophe Gamel responded by making four substitutions, introducing Alvin Fortes and Omid Musawi among others. The changes brought some spark as Faisal Halim, wearing the captain’s armband for Selangor, pulled one back in the 73rd minute.
Despite late pressure, Selangor could not narrow the gap further, and the match ended 4-2 in favor of LCS.
