Selangor’s search for a first win in the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 came to a disappointing end tonight as the Red Giants suffered a narrow 0–1 defeat to Lion City Sailors in the Group Stage, Group G at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
It was a night that mirrored Selangor’s season-long struggles—glimpses of promise overshadowed by missed chances and moments of defensive lapse. The 1–1 draw against Bangkok United in Pathum Thani remains their only point in a tournament dominated by their regional rivals.
Despite the result, one name stood out: Kalamullah Al-Hafiz, who once again proved why he remains one of Selangor’s most reliable figures. The Malaysia international produced a series of top-class saves, denying Anderson Lopes (17’), Tsiy Ndenge (23’) and watching Maxime Lestienne’s free kick rattle the crossbar shortly after.
Selangor themselves threatened early through Brazilian forward Chrigor Moraes, whose 12th-minute strike forced a sharp stop from Ivan Susak.
But the Sailors’ sustained pressure paid off just five minutes into the second half. A slick move down the middle saw Song Ui-young pick out Tsiy Ndenge, who smashed home the winning goal from inside the box—leaving Kalamullah with no chance and the Red Giants with a mountain too steep to climb.
Gamel’s men pushed for a response, with Moraes nearly snatching a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time, only to see his curling effort drift agonisingly wide.
Summary of 6 matches, Selangor FC closing their Group G campaign anchored at the bottom with just a single point.
