Malaysia’s national team take a won the first friendly match over Brunei DS with a score of 4-0 in the International ‘A’ Match FIFA Day at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia under of Kim Pan-Gon is seen in the phase of testing his players by resting some key players such as Farizal Marlias, Shahrul Mohd Saad, La’ Vere Corbin-Ong, and Matthew Davies while youngster V. Ruventhiran has been given the opportunity to make his debut international appearance.
As expected, Safiq Rahim and his teammates clearly had no problem dominating the game with total dominance displayed as well as getting some golden opportunities to produce goals.
Syafiq Ahmad put the national squad ahead in the 16th minute when he completed the opportunity by heading in the ball from a corner kick taken by Ruventhiran
After that, the national squad missed some of the best opportunities to add goals through the team captain, Safiq Rahim, Syameer Kutty Abba and Syafiq Ahmad.
While both teams waited for the time to enter the locker room, Syameer calmly pushed the ball in as a result of a good pass done by Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim to Malaysia led 2-0.
Syameer almost added another goal in injury time but his quiz after receiving a beautiful pass from Safiq was just slightly off to the right of Brunei’s goal.
Faisal Halim made it 3-0 in the 58th minute after he made a powerful shot in the penalty area after receiving a cutback from substitute Guilherme De Paula.
De Paula, who has always been the victim of criticism following his selection into the national squad, added a goal when he calmly completed a penalty kick to confirm a 4-0 victory for Malaysia.
Malaysia will face a second friendly match with Hong Kong on 1 June.
