Malaysian Moto3 rider Hakim Danish Ramli made an impressive first appearance at the legendary TT Circuit Assen, finishing 13th in Friday’s Practice session to secure an automatic place in Q2 for Round 10 of the 2026 Moto3 World Championship.
Representing AEON Credit–MT Helmets–MSi, the Brno Grand Prix winner adapted quickly to one of the most technical and demanding circuits on the MotoGP calendar despite making his competitive debut at the Dutch venue.
Hakim approached the opening Free Practice 1 session with a clear objective of learning the circuit and collecting valuable setup information. The 18-year-old steadily built his confidence throughout the morning and finished 11th with a best lap of 1:41.449, just 0.580 seconds behind the session leader.
The afternoon Practice session saw Hakim continue to improve his pace as the battle for direct Q2 qualification intensified. The Malaysian rider looked set to post an even quicker lap during his final flying attempt before his effort was cut short by yellow flags following Casey O’Gorman’s crash in turn 1.
Unable to complete his final lap, Hakim remained 13th overall with a fastest time of 1:41.640, finishing 0.722 seconds off the benchmark. Despite the frustration of the cancelled lap, his earlier pace was sufficient to earn direct progression into Q2, allowing him to bypass the opening qualifying session.
The result continues Hakim’s encouraging momentum after claiming his maiden Moto3 victory in Brno last weekend, with the young Malaysian once again demonstrating competitive pace against the championship’s leading riders.
Attention now turns to Saturday, where Hakim will participate in Free Practice 2 before returning in the afternoon for the decisive Q2 qualifying session, where he will battle for the best possible starting position on the grid for Sunday’s Dutch TT.
