Thailand concluded their June FIFA International Window with a disciplined and resilient performance after holding China to a 0-0 draw in an international friendly at Jinhua Sports Center Stadium, Jinhua.
The result saw the War Elephants, ranked 93rd in the FIFA World Rankings, earn a respectable draw against 94th-ranked China in a tightly contested encounter that showcased Thailand’s defensive organization under head coach Anthony Hudson.
Looking to further develop his squad ahead of future international commitments, Hudson opted for a tactical adjustment by deploying a three-man defensive system.
In attack, veteran striker Teerasil Dangda was handed a starting role, supported by midfield leader Thitiphan Puangchan and young forward Teerasak Poeiphimai.
Thailand entered the match aiming to test their tactical flexibility against one of Asia’s traditional football powers, and the opening exchanges proved evenly balanced.
The visitors were forced into an early change in the 25th minute when Thitiphan was unable to continue, prompting Hudson to introduce Seksan Ratree.
The substitution almost produced an immediate breakthrough. Just two minutes after entering the field, Seksan capitalized on a defensive mistake from the Chinese backline before unleashing a left-footed effort inside the penalty area. However, his shot sailed over the crossbar.
China responded by increasing their control of possession and attempted to build sustained attacking pressure, but Thailand remained compact and disciplined defensively.
The Thai backline worked tirelessly to neutralize the hosts’ attacking threats, ensuring the first half ended scoreless.
China continued to push forward after the interval, but Thailand’s defensive structure remained difficult to break down.
Hudson introduced fresh legs in the 59th minute, bringing on Anan Yodsangwal and Jude Soonsup-Bell in place of Weerathep Pomphan and Teerasil.
As the match progressed, Thailand increasingly looked dangerous on the counterattack.
Their best opportunity arrived in the 79th minute when captain Narubadin Weerawatnodom launched a swift counter and found Seksan in space outside the penalty area.
The substitute struck a powerful long-range effort, but the ball once again drifted over the bar.
With ten minutes remaining, Thailand made their final substitutions, introducing Theeraphat Prueangam, Waris Choolthong, and Surachart Sareepim to help see out the match.
China continued searching for a late winner, but Thailand’s defensive unit remained organized and composed under pressure.
Neither side was able to find the decisive breakthrough, and the contest ended in a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
