Buriram United were handed a heavy 3-0 defeat by FC Seoul in their second League Stage fixture of AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26 at Seoul World Cup Stadium, Seoul.
The match began with early drama in the fifth minute when Buriram thought they had won a penalty after Peter Zulj’s cross struck the arm of a Seoul defender. However, following a VAR review, Qatari referee Mohammed Al-Shammari overturned his initial decision, awarding only a corner.
FC Seoul slowly grew into the contest and struck first in the 38th minute. Lucas Silva delivered a teasing cross from the left that found Choi Jun, who rifled a precise shot inside the far post to put the hosts ahead 1-0.
The Korean side doubled their advantage just before halftime. In the third minute of stoppage time, a short-corner routine involving Jesse Lingard and Jung Seung-Won ended with a whipped delivery into the six-yard box. Confusion between Buriram’s defense and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge saw the ball bounce straight into the net for 2-0.
Seoul continued to dominate after the interval, and in the 68th minute, Lucas Silva struck again with a powerful left-footed finish after a scramble in the box to make it 3-0.
Buriram attempted to rally late on, with chances falling to Ilhan Fandi, Faycal Mulic, and Peter Zulj, but home goalkeeper Choi Cheol-Won stood firm to deny them.
Despite some spirited attacking in the closing stages, the Thai champions could not find a breakthrough and slumped to their first loss in the group.
The result leaves Buriram United on three points from two matches (one win, one loss), while FC Seoul climb up the standings with four points.
