Johor Darul Ta’zim took a commanding step towards the Piala FA Malaysia 2025/26 quarterfinals after brushing aside A1 Semi-Pro side UM Damansara United 5-0 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
The defending champions showed their class despite UM Damansara’s defensive 5-4-1 setup, anchored by captain Hariz Mansor, who was later sent off in the 37th minute after a second yellow card for a late challenge on Teto Martin.
With the visitors down to ten men, JDT wasted no time capitalizing. Jonathan Silva opened the scoring in the 44th minute, tapping in from a Shahrul Saad assist to send the Southern Tigers into halftime 1-0 ahead.
After the break, JDT turned up the tempo. In the 54th minute, Silva struck again, this time with a thumping header from Enzo Lombardo’s delivery. Spanish starlet Teto Martin then added the third, firing a crisp low shot past goalkeeper Ameerul Eqhwan.
The floodgates opened late in the game as Joao Figueiredo converted from the spot before Celso Bermejo capped off the night with a fifth goal, sending the home crowd into raptures.
The comprehensive 5-0 win gives JDT a massive cushion ahead of the return leg as they continue their quest to defend the FA Cup crown.
