Palestinian central defender Oday Kharoub has officially departed from Kelantan Darul Naim FC (Kelantan DN) and is now set to embark on a new chapter of his career with Libyan club Al-Ahly Benghazi.
The announcement was made by Al-Ahly Benghazi on their official social media platforms, confirming the arrival of the 32-year-old defender.
“From the capital of Muslims fighting for their historical rights, to the city of Al-Ahly, a strong and fighting city,” read the club’s statement.
The post emphasized Kharoub’s decision to join Al-Ahly, citing that the Palestinian defender was drawn to the club’s rich heritage and competitive environment.
Kharoub was officially introduced during a contract-signing ceremony held by the club, where he was unveiled as the newest member of the team.
Before his move, Kharoub made a significant impact during his time with Kelantan DN in the Malaysian Super League. He featured in 14 matches, contributing 4 goals and 2 assists despite playing in a defensive role.
However, the partnership between Kharoub and Kelantan DN was short-lived. Reports suggest that Kharoub was one of several key players who sought an exit, ultimately opting to join the Libyan Premier League leaders.
Al-Ahly Benghazi currently sits atop the standings in the East Group 2 of the Libyan Premier League, boasting 5 wins and a draw from their opening six matches. The club’s consistent performances have solidified its position as one of the top contenders this season.
Oday Kharoub is expected to make his debut for Al-Ahly Benghazi in their upcoming match against Al-Branes this Friday morning. The fixture will be held on home turf, presenting Kharoub with an opportunity to quickly integrate into the squad and showcase his defensive prowess.
