Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has confirmed that the Harimau Malaya squad, led by head coach Pau Marti, will play two Tier 1 international matches against Laos and India in November 2024, marking key events in the FIFA International Calendar.
The first match against Laos is scheduled for Thursday, 14 November 2024. Although Laos will serve as the host, the game will take place at the PAT Stadium, Bangkok.
This relocation is due to the Lao KM16 National Stadium in Vientiane being utilized for a 2026 World Cup Qualifier between DPR Korea and Iran on the same day. Laos has opted to stay in Bangkok, as their second match will be held against Thailand on 17 November 2024.
Following the Laos fixture, Harimau Malaya will travel directly from Bangkok to India for their second match. Details regarding the venue in India will be announced soon.
In the latest FIFA Rankings released on 24 October 2024, Malaysia is ranked 133rd globally. India, who will serve as Malaysia’s second opponent, holds a ranking of 125th, while Laos stands at 187th. These matches will provide a valuable opportunity for Malaysia to improve their international standing.
