Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has appointed Kim Sang-sik, a South Korean coach age 47, as the new head coach of the Vietnam national team, replacing Philip Troussier, who was fired earlier.
However, Sang-sik will be acting in two positions: head coach of the main squad and head coach of the U23 squad.
VFF revealed that the federation has signed a two-year contract with the South Korean coach until 31 March 2026, and an official announcement will be held on 6 May 2024.
Sang-Sik is a former player Korea Republic national team. and played a football career in the K League with Seongnam Ilwa, Gwangju Sangmu (draft), and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors before starting to work as head coach for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in 2020-2023 along with leading the team to win 1x K League and 1x Korean FA Cup title.
