Malaysia national futsal team end at 4th place after losing to Afghanistan national futsal team scoring 2-3 in the NSDF Futsal Championship 2024 3rd place match at Nonthaburi PAO Gymnasium.
The void was made up for two minutes later when the ball from Mahadir Harahap Khairuddin’s push that Safari tried to deny bounced into the Afghan goal to put Malaysia in front.
The national team’s forgetfulness when defending was punished in the eighth minute after Mehram Ghulami, who was not controlled, easily rejected the ball from Akbar Kazemi’s cross.
A minute later, Malaysia had to play with a player short after goalkeeper Aiman Fikry Ramli was shown a red card following a foul on Ghulami.
However, Malaysia was strong and defended within two minutes with only four players to restrain the great pressure embodied by Afghanistan.
The situation made substitute goalkeeper Muhammad Syawal Sabaruddin work hard to prevent his goal from being conceded by the opponent.
Entering the 16th minute, Afghanistan was in front through another easy goal as a result of Kazemi’s push when he had just passed the national player’s control.
Their joy, however, could only last a minute when Mohamad Danial Dain’s shot during a free kick situation managed to beat Javad Safari.
The action of the second half was no less interesting with a series of counterattacks produced by both teams in an effort to add more goals.
Afghanistan was more fortunate where Kazemi’s stomach attempt managed to trap Syawal who quickly came out to close the space to put the 50th ranked team in the world one goal ahead in the 29th minute.
The tactical ‘Powerplay’ that was used to hunt for an equalizing goal, Malaysia ended the Futsal NSDF 2024 in fourth place.
