Malaysia national team lost the first match in this round after losing to the Oman national team, scoring 0-2 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 Group D at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Muscat.
In the beginning game, Oman was the side open to attack and got the opportunity from a set-piece.
In the 23rd minute, Oman almost got the first goal following the mistake of defender Malaysia, and Issam Al Sabha kept the ball, but the shot missed the first post.

In the second half, Oman still opening to attack, and in the 58th minute, following Ali Al Busaidi passing into the box to Issam Al Sabhi’s shot to the first post, Oman led 1-0.
Malaysia tried to find opportunities to find an equalizer goal. In the 81st minute, Malaysia almost got an equalizer goal following Paulo Josue’s shot into the goal, but it was offside.
In the 88th minute, following a fast break of Oman and Muhsen Al Ghassani’s charge in close range, Oman led 2-0.
The remaining time of the second half had no additional score, ending Oman’s win 2-0.
