Astro is set to make its highly anticipated return as the official broadcaster of the Malaysia League for the third consecutive season (2025/26)—bringing fans closer to the game than ever before through its dedicated football channels, Arena Bola (CH 803 & 804), and the sooka streaming platform.
With 228 matches to be broadcast live in full high-definition (HD), Malaysian football fans can enjoy every goal, dramatic moment, and thrilling play—whether at home, in the stadium, or on the go—through Astro’s Astro One Sports Pack or sooka’s mobile streaming service.
Nicholas John, Head of Sports at Astro, expressed pride in Astro’s ongoing role in elevating local football:
“Football is the heartbeat of millions of Malaysians, and Astro is proud to continue fuelling this passion. Over the past two seasons, we’ve seen viewership grow by more than 20%, reaching nearly 24 million cumulative views, a testament to the unwavering interest in our local leagues.”
This season, Astro is launching a revamped broadcast approach, featuring former professional players as analysts, delivering tactical and behind-the-scenes insights directly from their on-field experience.
Astro is also doubling down on grassroots development through its ‘Ini Padang Kita’ campaign, which focuses on revitalizing local community fields as hubs for youth development and community unity.
Reaffirming its commitment to Malaysian football, Astro proudly announced the renewal of its strategic partnership with U Mobile, which returns as the Official Broadcast Sponsor of the Malaysia League for a second straight year.
This collaboration aims to expand league reach, reignite national enthusiasm for football, and support grassroots engagement efforts, building a stronger foundation for the sport’s future.
Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan, President of the Malaysian Football League (MFL), believes this season promises greater excitement:
“With clubs actively preparing and three new entrants—Melaka FC, Imigresen FC, and Brunei’s DPMM FC—this season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive yet. Following Harimau Malaya’s impressive international performances, fans are eager to see how our domestic talents rise to the challenge.”
He added: “We are truly grateful for Astro’s continued role as the primary link between the league and fans. With Astro’s broadcasting expertise, coupled with engaging content and top-tier match coverage, football will continue to thrive as Malaysia’s No.1 sport.”
In the 2025/26 season, Astro is strengthening its broadcast team by bringing in two prominent football figures to lead match analysis:
- Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli – Malaysia’s prolific striker of the 2000s
- Farizal Marlias – Former Malaysia national team goalkeeper
They join an already star-studded lineup of analysts including Zaquan Adha, Safee Sali, Razman Roslan, Nizaruddin Yusof, Norshahrul Idlan Talaha (Mat Yo), and Dato’ Zainal Abidin Hassan. Together, they’ll deliver in-depth tactical breakdowns, player insights, and authentic perspectives—offering fans an unparalleled viewing experience.
Astro’s ‘Ini Padang Kita’ campaign highlights the cultural and emotional significance of community fields across Malaysia. These fields are not just patches of grass—they are the birthplace of dreams, early battlegrounds for young talents, and spaces that unite communities across all walks of life.
Through this sustainability initiative, Astro aims to restore, activate, and preserve these spaces—not just as sporting venues but as safe, inclusive environments where the next generation of footballers can thrive.
As the leader in sports and entertainment broadcasting, Astro is enhancing the local football viewing experience with comprehensive match-day coverage, behind-the-scenes content, live stadium shows, pre-match carnivals, and fan-centered activities to ignite stadium energy and nationwide excitement.
