PDRM FC delivered a thrilling late performance to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory over Negeri Sembilan FC in the Unifi Piala Malaysia 2024/25 Round of 16 1st leg at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi.
Negeri Sembilan took the lead in the 69th minute when A Selvan capitalized on a scramble in the penalty area to fire the ball into the net, igniting hopes for a crucial home victory. However, the match turned on its head in the final minutes as PDRM FC staged an incredible comeback.
The game, goalless at halftime, came alive in the second half with both teams creating opportunities. Negeri Sembilan’s captain, Annas Rahmat, missed a golden chance to double their lead with a solo effort that sailed over the crossbar, leaving the hosts vulnerable.
PDRM’s persistence paid off in the 89th minute when substitute Muhammad Hadi Fayyadh Abdul Razak headed home the equalizer, taking advantage of a defensive lapse. With momentum on their side, Ifedayo Olusegun completed the turnaround in stoppage time, slotting in the winning goal and silencing the home crowd.
The defeat leaves Negeri Sembilan with a challenging task in the second leg, as they now need to overturn the deficit away from home to keep their Piala Malaysia campaign alive.
Meanwhile, PDRM FC head into the return leg with a vital away win and the psychological edge, eager to secure their place in the next round.
