MotoGP is thrilled to announce that the Thai Grand Prix will serve as the season opener for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Chang International Circuit, Buriram will host the event on provisional dates from 28 February – 2 March 2025.
This marks a historic moment as it will be the first time in over 25 years that the MotoGP season begins in Southeast Asia.
Thailand, a crucial market for MotoGP, has proven its passion for the sport with over 800,000 fans attending the four Thai GPs held since 2018. The decision to kick off the 2025 season in Thailand reflects the country’s significant role in MotoGP™ and its enthusiastic fanbase.
Dr. Gongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, highlighted the economic benefits of hosting the season opener and emphasized Thailand’s readiness to welcome fans and showcase new team dynamics after the off-season. Dorna Sports, the event organizer, also plans to promote the Thai GP extensively to attract motorsport fans from around the globe.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, expressed excitement about making history in Buriram and praised the circuit for becoming an instant favorite among fans. He anticipates an incredible atmosphere for the opening race, which will set the tone for the 2025 MotoGP™ season.
The full, provisional 2025 FIM MotoGP™ calendar will be released later in 2024, with the dates for the Thai GP awaiting final confirmation.
