Malaysia’s leading women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah continued their spectacular run this season by lifting their third championship title of 2025, claiming the crown at the Japan Masters Super 500 in Kumamoto today.
The world No. 2 pair entered the final as tournament favourites but faced a gritty challenge from home contenders Rin Iwanaga–Kie Nakanishi, the fourth seeds. In a fiercely fought battle at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium, Pearly-Thinaah held their nerve to secure victory 22-20, 21-19 in 54 minutes.
With the latest win, Pearly-Thinaah extended their impressive head-to-head record to seven victories in nine encounters against Iwanaga–Nakanishi, who are currently ranked seventh in the world.
Their composure in tight moments once again proved decisive, showcasing the pair’s tactical maturity and world-class chemistry—key elements behind their rise as one of the most formidable women’s doubles teams globally.
This triumph adds to the Malaysians’ strong 2025 campaign, where they previously clinched titles following Thailand Open (May 2025), and Arctic Open in Vantaa, Finland (October 2025).
With three titles already in hand, Pearly-Thinaah continue to build momentum as they look ahead to the highest-tier events, including the prestigious BWF World Tour Finals.
Pearly-Thinaah’s latest achievement not only underlines their consistency but also reinforces Malaysia’s growing influence in women’s doubles badminton. Their ability to rise under pressure and outperform top rivals positions them among the prime contenders for major titles in the months to come.
