Honda Racing Malaysia has announced disciplinary action following an incident of inappropriate conduct during Round 5 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2025, reaffirming the team’s strong stance on maintaining professionalism and sportsmanship on and off the circuit.
In an official statement released today, the team clarified that a member involved in the incident has been suspended from all team activities with immediate effect, following an internal review.
“Honda Racing Malaysia does not tolerate any inappropriate conduct by its team members,” the statement read. “Regardless of the circumstances or emotions following the on-track collision, the gesture made was not acceptable and does not represent the values or professionalism upheld by Honda Racing Malaysia.”
The team also expressed regret for any discomfort caused to other teams, spectators, and the motorsport community, emphasizing that such behavior falls short of the ethical standards expected at the elite level of competition.
Honda Racing Malaysia added that it remains committed to upholding integrity, discipline, and respect, and will take proactive measures to reinforce internal education and awareness among all team members.
“As part of our commitment to maintaining high standards of conduct, we will be reinforcing internal awareness and education to ensure all team members continue to demonstrate integrity, discipline, and respect both on and off the track,” the team stated.
The announcement comes shortly after the ASB1000 Race 2 incident involving Zaqhwan Zaidi (Honda Racing Malaysia) and Hafizh Syahrin (JDT Racing Team) at ARRC Round 5, which was reviewed by Race Direction. Both teams — Honda Racing Malaysia and JDT Racing Team — have since issued public statements affirming that the matter was resolved amicably, with penalties applied in line with championship regulations.
Honda Racing Malaysia’s latest disciplinary move underscores its zero-tolerance policy towards unprofessional behavior and its dedication to preserving the spirit of fair competition within the ARRC paddock.
As the championship progresses to the next rounds, the team reaffirmed its focus on racing excellence and sportsmanship — values that continue to define Malaysian motorsport’s reputation across Asia.
