Malaysian rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah has issued an official statement apologising for his actions following an incident during Race 2 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2026, acknowledging that his celebration at the finish line could have endangered other competitors still completing the race.
The rider, representing the JDT Racing Team, expressed regret and took full responsibility for the situation in a statement released after the race weekend.
In his statement, Hafizh admitted that the manner of his celebration at the finish line was inappropriate and could have created a safety risk for other riders who were still racing.
He acknowledged the seriousness of the incident and expressed deep regret for the mistake.
The Malaysian rider also confirmed that he fully accepts the decision taken by race officials, including the penalty imposed by Race Direction.
Safety, he emphasised, remains the highest priority in motorcycle racing, and he respects the ruling without dispute.
Hafizh extended a sincere apology to fellow riders affected by the situation, as well as to race organisers, teams and fans.
According to the former MotoGP rider, the incident did not reflect the professional standards he holds himself to as a racer competing at the highest level of Asian motorsport.
The Malaysian rider also explained that during the final stretch of the race he experienced a surge in his motorcycle due to low fuel, which contributed to his speed dropping along the back straight.
However, Hafizh clarified that this factor was not an excuse, but merely part of the circumstances surrounding the moment, reiterating that he takes full accountability for his actions.
