Malaysian teenage sensation Hakim Danish Ramli gave the MSi Racing Team a massive scare on Sunday after a high-speed crash during official Moto3 testing at the Circuito de Jerez. In a terrifying moment for the 18-year-old rookie, Danish was sent tumbling into the gravel at Turn 13 before his momentum carried him violently into the air fence.
Despite the intensity of the impact, the “Terengganu Tiger” proved his resilience, eventually climbing to his feet to walk away from the wreckage.
The incident occurred during the final stages of pre-season preparations. Danish appeared to lose the front end (lowside) entering the final corner, a tricky section of the Spanish track known for catching out even the most experienced riders.
While the rider escaped with only bruises and a shaken ego, his machine wasn’t as lucky. The MSi crew spent hours rebuilding the KTM after it was “badly damaged,” a setback that cost Danish crucial track time as the sun set on the final day of testing.
“I am okay and did not suffer any serious injuries. After two days here, I know there is still a lot to improve, especially in understanding the bike and refining my style.” — Hakim Danish Ramli
It has been a baptism of fire for Danish in the lead-up to his full-season debut. Between a rain-soaked test in Portimao and the crash in Jerez, the young Malaysian has had a disjointed pre-season.
The Jerez Numbers:
- Day 1 (Feb 14): 24th fastest (1:47.146s)
- Day 2 (Feb 15): 26th fastest (1:46.204s)
The focus now shifts to Southeast Asia for the ThaiGP, which serves as the 2026 season opener on February 27. Danish is banking on the familiar heat and humidity of Buriram to help him find the “feeling” he struggled to grasp in the chilly European winter tests.
“I believe Thailand will be very different… I hope the conditions there will help me adapt better and continue to improve,” he added.
