Gonzalo Paciencia, Portuguese striker, age 30, has agreed to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, a club in J.League, and will be in the squad for the AFC Champions League Two 2024/25, which will begin in September.
Paciência began his career at FC Porto, one of Portugal’s top clubs, and spent time on loan at various clubs such as Académica, Olympiacos, Rio Ave, and Vitória Setúbal.
He eventually moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, where he played a key role in helping the team win the UEFA Europa League during the 2021/22 season and later moved to Celta Vigo in Spain and was loaned out to VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga, where he helped the club avoid relegation in the 2023/24 season.
Sanfrecce Hiroshima is Japan’s sole representative in the 2024/25 AFC Champions League Two. They have been drawn into Group E alongside Sydney FC, Kaya FC, and Eastern SC.
