Gombak TOT United, a club in the Malaysian Premier Futsal League (MPFL) Division 1, is grappling with severe financial issues, severely impacting the livelihoods of players, coaches, and management staff.
Players have not received their salaries for nearly three months, while the coaching and management staff have gone four months without pay.
The team’s head, Muhd Ridhwan Zainal, who is also a Malaysian beach soccer player, highlighted these issues on his personal Facebook page, expressing his disappointment after the team lost 5-6 to the league’s fourth-ranked team, Shah Alam City.
Ridhwan wrote, “It is not easy to win; we have tried our best. Please, Gombak FC, consider our salaries, which have not been paid for almost three months. We have played hard, but all we got was tiredness. Don’t mistreat us as a team. I’m tired of empty promises. Please settle our salaries. We do not waive our right to be paid.”
In addition to salary issues, the team currently lacks a dedicated training facility, forcing players to compete in league matches without proper training sessions on the court.
Luan Gomes, a foreign player for Gombak TOT United, has also not received his salary for almost three months.
