Malaysia’s women’s singles scene has been rocked by a heartfelt revelation, as Go Pei Kee confirmed her decision not to return to the national team, choosing instead to step back and reflect on her personal journey.

In an emotional social media message that resonated deeply across the badminton community, the 22-year-old shuttler expressed gratitude, vulnerability, and quiet strength—offering fans a rare glimpse into the mental and emotional battles behind the scenes.

“Thank you to myself and to everyone who helped me along the way. I’m truly grateful, including to all the fans—even though I can’t reply to each of you, I feel your support.”

She also apologised to supporters who have not seen her on court recently, admitting that circumstances beyond her control made it difficult to continue competing.

“I know you haven’t seen me this past year, and I’m sorry. But many things are really unpredictable.”

The 2026 season has marked a period of deep reflection for Go, who described her recent experiences as transformative.

“It feels like I’ve been reborn. I’ve learned so much—listening to others’ stories and understanding my own.”

She encouraged fans not to underestimate themselves, highlighting that everyone has their own unique journey and struggles.

Perhaps most striking was Go’s admission that she is unsure what lies ahead in her career.

“I don’t know what my future will be, but I can only take it one step at a time.”

The statement has sparked speculation about her playing future, with hints that fans may not see her return to competition anytime soon.

Still, she remains optimistic and determined to keep moving forward, embracing both successes and mistakes along the way.

Go did not shy away from expressing her emotional connection with supporters:

“To the fans who have always supported me, I feel really sorry that you may not see me compete again. Let the beautiful memories stay in the present.”

Despite this, she ended on a hopeful note, inviting fans to look forward to what’s next—both in her life and potentially beyond badminton.
