Former Kedah Darul Aman FC technical director Nelson San Martin has issued an emotional public statement revealing serious financial hardship, claiming he has not received his salary for months while still being under contract with the Malaysian club.
In a heartfelt message posted on social media, San Martin addressed Malaysian football supporters—particularly Kedah fans—explaining that he has been struggling silently since 2024 while attempting to resolve the issue privately.
San Martin, who previously contributed to the development structure of Kedah, said he had initially hesitated to make his situation public but felt he had reached a breaking point.
“Years ago, I gave everything I had for the green and yellow jersey, sharing unforgettable moments with all of you,” he wrote.
“But today, I come not to celebrate victory on the pitch, but to share the hardest battle of my life—just trying to survive and feed my family.”
According to San Martin, the last payment he received from the club was a partial salary on January 10, and since then he claims he has received no further communication from the organization.
San Martin stated that the unpaid wages include obligations from a new contract signed in November 2025, as well as several months of salary that he says remain outstanding from his previous agreement with Kedah.
The Chilean coach explained that attempts to contact the club have been unsuccessful and that he has struggled even to find a physical office to address the matter directly.
“For over two months I have been left completely abandoned, without communication or support. Every attempt to contact the club has been met with silence,” he said.
The situation has reportedly created significant personal and financial difficulties for the coach and his family.
San Martín revealed he is currently facing legal matters in his home country of Chile that require urgent attention, but has been unable to travel due to his financial situation.
“I am a father and a provider, yet my family and I are struggling to get through each day. We cannot even pay our rent or meet the most basic necessities.”
Despite the challenges, San Martin expressed gratitude to Malaysian supporters and friends who have helped him during this difficult time.
“The support I have received from the fans club has kept me going. I will never forget your kindness.”
He also emphasized his affection for Malaysia, describing the country as a place he hopes to continue living and working.
“I may be a foreigner, but Malaysia is my home. I endured these hardships because I truly want to stay and contribute to Malaysian football.”
In his message, San Martin expressed hope that the club’s leadership—including Kedah owner Mohd Daud Bakar—would reach out to resolve the situation respectfully.
“I am only asking for the dignity of a direct conversation to resolve this matter. I have always treated the club with respect and only ask for the same in return.”
