Football Association of Thailand (FA Thailand) has moved swiftly to stabilize its national team setup by appointing Technical Director Anthony Hudson as the interim head coach of Thailand national team.
The decision comes just a day after FAT officially parted ways with Japanese coach Masatada Ishii, following differences in tactical direction and overall team philosophy.
In a joint decision between Madam Pang and the FAT Technical Committee, Anthony Hudson, the current Technical Director of Football Development, has been appointed as the interim head coach of the Thailand national team with immediate effect.
“Given the timing and the importance of the upcoming international fixtures, we needed someone who understands Thai football at every level. Anthony Hudson has been deeply involved in our football structure, both at the club level and as Technical Director,” the statement read.
Hudson brings with him extensive international experience, having previously served as the head coach of the United States, New Zealand, and Bahrain national teams. His global background, combined with his understanding of Thailand’s football ecosystem, made him the most suitable candidate to guide the team during this critical period.
“Anthony Hudson has lived and worked through every level of Thai football. His knowledge, leadership, and international pedigree make him the right person for this moment,” Madam Pang concluded.
Hudson also boasts a solid understanding of Asian football, having coached clubs such as Al-Arabi SC and Al-Markhiya SC in Qatar’s top division. His diverse coaching background and tactical adaptability are expected to provide a steady hand for Thailand as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
Hudson’s immediate focus will be on leading Thailand in their AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers, where the War Elephants will face Sri Lanka in November.
