Argentina national team clinched title this time after winning Colombia national team scoring 1-0 in the Copa America 2024 final at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, FL.
In a final marked by intense action and delays due to a commotion outside the stadium, Argentina were considered fortunate as Colombia dominated much of the game, making 19 attempts on goal.
Both teams showcased strong performances despite the match starting later than scheduled. Argentina’s hopes of defending their title were nearly dashed when captain Lionel Messi was substituted in the 66th minute due to an ankle injury.
Throughout regular time, both teams attacked relentlessly, but the score remained 0-0, leading to extra time.
In extra time, Argentina, known as La Albiceleste, seemed determined to avoid a penalty shootout and launched a series of attacks. Their persistence paid off in the 112th minute when substitute Lautaro Martinez calmly slotted home a pass from Giovani Lo Celso, securing Argentina’s title defense.
In the final minutes, Colombia exerted all their efforts to find an equalizer, but Argentina held firm, and the score remained 1-0 until the end of the match, ensuring Argentina’s victory and the Copa America title.
