BG Pathum United have sent a request to host the AFC Champions League 2022 (Group Stage) which will be played from 15 April to 1 May 2022. After Thailand receiving a sanction lift from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Thailand was declared non-compliant by World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) after failing to fully implement its charter and was resulted in a number of sanctions as follows.
1) Thailand is not allowed to participate and receiving a contribution from WADA, 2) Thai referees in the international sport associations are not allowed to work for 1 year, 3) Thailand is not allowed to host any regional, continental and global sport event except the Olympics and Paralympics and lastly, Thai national flag and anthem are not allowed to use in any regional, continental and global sport event.
As Thailand is able to fully complied its implementation, which resulted with WADA revoking its sanctions. BG Pathum United have filed in a request to host the AFC Champions League 2022 (Group Stage) Group G at BG Stadium, which will be played from 15 April to 1 May 2022.
Last year BG Pathum United were the host of the AFC Champions League 2021 (Group Stage) while this year’s competition.
BG Pathum United were drawn to Group G in AFC Champions League 2022 alongside Melbourne City (Australia), Jeonnam Dragons (South Korea) and United City (the Philippines).
