Timor-Leste U19 national team collects the first 3 points successfully. after overturning Singapore U19 national team went on to score 1-0 in the AFF U19 Championship 2022 Group A match at Madya Stadium, Jakarta.
It was Mario Donasio who managed to break the deadlock in this match. Taking advantage of the rebound that failed to be perfectly secured by goalkeeper Firman Nabil, Donasio easily grabbed the ball that was rolling in front of the goal.
Two minutes later, Timor Leste almost doubled their lead through Anizo Correia but his header still bounced over the vacant crossbar.
Singapore goalkeeper Firman Nabil was actually dead because he failed to cut the ball which was headed by Correia. However, player number 9’s header still bounced.
Singapore actually had a golden opportunity to equalize in the 73rd minute. However, two Singaporean players failed to continue the bait from close range in the penalty box.
In the 85th minute, Anizo Correia again squandered the golden opportunity he got. His left foot shot instead bounced over the bar when goalkeeper Firman Nabil was not in an ideal position.
As a result, Timor Leste had to settle for closing the game with a 1-0 win over Singapore.
This victory brought Timor Leste up to third place in Group B of the AFF U19 Championship 2022 with three points. Eduardo Pereira’s squad lost head to head to Laos who are at the top, and lost on goal difference to Malaysia who are in second place.
